The mission of the UAA Diversity Action Council is to nurture an environment where the diverse cultures and beliefs of all people are acknowledged, where diversity is respected and where all people are valued.

Diversity Statement

With freedom of speech being at our core, UAA strives to create an inclusive respectful campus community that promotes and embraces our individual differences. We are united in our belief that diversity includes understanding and respecting differences in ideas, religion, gender, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, disability, age, and socioeconomic status. We celebrate diversity in all of our educational and employment endeavors.

The Diversity Resource Guide, created by the Office of Diversity and Compliance, highlights academic programs, support programs, clubs, committees, and community support programs.

Highlighting Diversity Collections

These collections are websites that highlight some of the many diversity related events held at UAA. The collection began in 2003/2004 and was continued 2004/2005. The collections are available on the web at http://diversitycollection.uaa.alaska.edu or on CD.

2003/2004 Collection

Featuring Dr. Jeanne Eder's One Woman Show in Honor of Native Heritage Month and organized by semester with links to events arranged by month.

2004/2005 Collection

Featuring the Civil Rights and Economic Justice Performing Arts and Original Poetry Contest and organized chronologically, but also by type of event with categories such as Lectures and Forums, Gallery Shows, Dance, Entertainment Acts, Music and more.
